5th & 6th Grade Bible Study

5th & 6th Grade parents are encouraged to join the Parent Bible Study in the Student Center classroom 198. For more information, email Audrey Duensing-Werner.

7th & 8th Grade Confirmation
Students

Confirmation Instruction is an important milestone in the life of a 7th-8th grader. It’s a natural step in a student’s life to grow and nurture their spiritual development in a more significant way and to learn and understand the Biblical narratives and how they are a part of God’s great story. At Gloria Dei we offer two-year Confirmation Instruction during the school year from 9:45am-10:45am in the Student Center Gym.  For more information, email Audrey Duensing-Werner.

Parents

For those of you that have been a part of Gloria Dei’s Confirmation Instruction in the past, we have changed it up a bit and although it will look a little different, it will still offer great teaching, parent/student faith talk conversations, and small group connections.  Beginning this fall, we’ll be joining both 7th and 8th graders together, along with their parent(s). We have designed the ministry to be an A year and a B year. During our A year (2023-2024), we walk through the Catechism and the Doctrine of the Lutheran Church.  In the B year (2024-2025) we walk through the Old Testament and the New Testament.  Our Confirmation class will be taught by Bret Schroeder, one of our amazing Lutheran South teachers.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

We expect a parent (s) or a significant faith mentor to be a part of the Sunday morning experience along with the student.  We will have intentional weekly sharing with your student so it’s important that they have an adult with them each week.

Friday Night Frenzy (Formally known as Impact Nights): 5th & 6th Graders

So we’re changing the name from Impact night to “Friday Night Frenzy.”  Because, well, it’s on Friday. The 2nd Friday of every month, except for September where we'll join Middle Schoolers for Urban Air fun.  For those of you new to Friday Night Frenzy (FNF), it is designed just for fifth and sixth graders and their friends. It’s a crazy amazing night of fun food and going crazy for Jesus (Underground Church is our fav game).

We play hard! We laugh hard! We eat a lot of awesome food! We connect with old friends and make new friends. And we especially connect with Jesus.

Friday Night Frenzy is amazing! You won’t want to miss them. For more information, email Audrey Duensing-Werner.

Phase Podcast

Did you know Gloria Dei has a summer podcast? Each week we will be taking a look at the phases, or grades, of our kids. In each conversation we will highlight the changes in their development emotionally, mentally, physically and socially as well as share some stories from parents who just finished that grade with their child.

We hope that you are encouraged, supported, and informed as you enter the next phase in your child's life. We also hope that through this podcast you see that you aren't alone and maybe pick up some tips and tricks from other parents. This parenting journey is rewarding and sometimes hard, but it is never meant to be done alone.
